1 Month Old...

Where in the world did the month go!  I can't believe it has been four weeks since this little guy came into our lives...it seems as if he was meant to be here all along...and I have no doubt he was!  This mama is getting quite sentimental already that her baby boy is growing so fast, but it is inevitable and we are having so much fun watching Hampton grow and change with each day.
Firsts for these last couple of weeks:  We had our first shopping trip with YaYa (my Mom.)  He was so sweet of course and slept the entire time!  He just might be mommy's new favorite shopping buddy!

Another first, we also ventured out of the house to head to church for the first time.  He was wide awake when we got there so we weren't sure what he was going to think but he was just as quiet and content as he could be.  He eventually fell asleep but of course we didn't get through the service without some of his grunting!  I guess grunting is better than screaming or crying right!?

As most of you probably agree, Hamp is the spitting image of his daddy, but one thing we know he got from me, that tongue! In almost all of my baby pictures, I had my tongue sticking out!

After church we headed to Hampton's best buddy, Mac's, baptism. We were so glad to share this special day with such special friends!

Hampton rocked his gown so Mac wouldn't be alone...even though they both caught some grief from their daddies.
Sleeping:  Hampton is still sleeping great!  I'm scared to say that in fear that as soon as I do, his great sleeping habits may change but he has made his mommy and daddy very proud.  He usually has a feeding around 9:00 and goes right to sleep afterwards and sleeps for a good five hours.  There has even been a couple of nights where I've had to wake him up after five hours to eat but after this week I will be letting him sleep as long  as he would like.  After his five hour stint, he eats and goes right back down for another four to four and a half hours!  Now this is our typical night.  We have had a couple of nights where he woke up after three and a half to four hours, but that has only happened a couple of times.  Like I've said before, this boy loves his sleep and we are hoping he will continue to sleep good and maybe even longer in the upcoming weeks...fingers crossed!

Feedings/Schedule:  Hampton eats every three hours during the day and he nurses 25 to 30 minutes at a time (just however long it takes until he is full.)  A full belly each feeding is our goal which is hard work at times because he gets sleepy.  Occasionally we have 2 1/2 hour feedings if he can't make it or if we have plans to be somewhere, but that doesn't happen too often.  Even though we stick to a good three hour schedule most of the time, it was important to us to be able to be flexible and Hamp has been just fine with the flexibility.  Changing things up every once in while to go to church or dinner hasn't bothered him so far.  I pump at least once a day so we always have an extra bottle if we need to use it.

Speaking of bottle, I have been told not to give a breastfeeding baby a bottle or paci in the first couple of weeks to avoid "nipple confusion."  Well due to our stay in the hospital we threw all of those rules out the window and offered him a bottle so his daddy could spend some time with him and we gave him a paci to keep him company, all within the first week.  Ever since then, Hampton has always taken a bottle and pacifier easily and still has no issues nursing.  In my opinion, offering a bottle and paci early on, while also breastfeeding, helped him take all easily without confusion.

He is obviously eating quite well because he has grown so much!  Remember this picture when he was about two weeks old...
This is just two weeks later and it is obvious he has filled out quite a bit!  I've worked hard to put some meat on those bones so that makes me a proud mama!

Things we love:  Besides his all time favorites of sleeping and eating, Hampton loves to stare at lights or the big ole camera his mommy is always pointing at him!  He also loves his baths.  They seem to relax him and he loves the water.  He almost fell asleep during one of his baths this week.

Did I mention he loves eating?!?!  Check out that growing belly!
Oh and if it's not time to eat and Mr. Wubba isn't near by, his fingers seem to keep him content...for a short time at least.
I spy some new rolls on those arms and legs and those cheeks sure are filling out!  I think we have a growing boy on our hands!
And how about that tan!?  He's only been in the world four weeks and he is already darker than his mommy...yes I'm extremely jealous but that pretty complexion is so pretty and of course it is one of the many characteristics his daddy passed along to him.  Now I will forever look pale in pictures next to these two!
We have also realized that we have a pretty strong little fella!  His is lifting his head really well!  His little legs are quite strong as well and he loves to give my tummy a good kick when that mean gas is getting to him.  He seems to love his tummy time and we have it quite often because it seems to help him when his tummy hurts as well.

He has also been awake a lot more!  We have really enjoyed being able to interact with him a little more.  We have about an hour or two that he is awake in the mornings and at least two hours at night.  During this time, we sing to him, talk to him, or he has some swing time.  And of course there is the daily picture sessions.  I just can't stop taking pictures of that precious face!

Most of all, we are enjoying this sweet, ever-changing face.  Watching his little personality come to life with each passing day is so sweet to see.  It is obvious that he is taking in this new big world of his and I can't help but want to capture each little face or look!  With that said, of course we had to have a mini photo session to commemorate his 1 month birthday!

Thor is always close by to make sure his little buddy is ok.  It's obvious that Thor loves this little guy...
And I think the feeling is mutual!

 There's that tongue again!

This is one of my favorite faces that he makes!  So glad I caught it...too funny!

Our life is so much sweeter now that you are here!  You are the answer to our prayers and you have filled our life with happiness and joy!  We love you so much and we look forward to watching you grow!
Happy 1 Month Birthday sweet boy!
